What is the significance of guavas in the first chapter of this book?

  1. Yolanda was craving guavas and insisted on going out alone into the countryside of the Dominican Republic to find them. Her car broke down and she got into a dangerous situation with two strangers because of her desire for guavas.

  2. The significance of guavas is that Yolanda was kinda craving for them when she came to Dominican Republic because there wasn't any in New York where she had lived for years and now that she came back to Dominican Republic, the first thing she wants to do is find some guavas and eat them.

  3. Well back in New york, they didnt have guavas so of course the first thing she wanted in the first part of the chapters was to go out and buy some.

  4. Yolanda, went out to get guavas she really craved them. She ran into some trouble but soon enough got out of it. Because the bandits knew she was from a big wealthy family.
